Twitch is proprietary, which means it should not be used.
It's also owned by Amazon. Amazon harms its customers, as well as workers, the national treasury, and many others that it affects. Here's a good (though long) overview of why Amazon's overall activity is harmful to society overall.

I don't believe that your fork of an insecure libre piece of software is more secure. I feel like there are still a lot of unpatched holes. What you should've done is made your fork also free software. People would be able to contribute to it, which will help you patch security issues faster.
Also, stop referring to free software as "open source". They are completely different.

You being forced use a piece of nonfree software is not your fault. Many schools nowadays teach their students how to use nonfree software, therefore implanting dependence, which goes counter to the schools' social mission. Schools should never do this.
